COVID-19 Blood Plasma Therapy

Blood Plasma:

Blood plasma is a yellowish liquid in blood contains red blood cells and white blood cells as well as colorless platelets help to clot and stop bleeding from cuts and injuries. The plasma also contains antibodies that can fight against infectious diseases. Plasma carries out water, salt, enzymes, and other components to the whole body.

COVID-19 and Blood plasma therapy:

The new coronavirus has infected more than seven hundred people around the globe since there is no good treatment for this virus, the scientist is trying to develop antibodies or vaccines for this viral disease. However plasma therapy has good results in the treatment of coronavirus disease, some doctors are using plasma therapy for the treatment of COVID-19.

This is not the first time that plasma therapy is considered of treatment for viral infection, it was first tested in 1981 during the influenza pandemic. After that in 2003 the previous coronavirus outbreak in 2003.  Plasma therapy treatment was also used during the Ebola Virus outbreak in 2013-2016.

Now in the current pandemic plasma therapy have good result in treatment of coronavirus. Plasma therapy has already been explored in China, in the first trail more patients of Covid-19 are recovered through plasma therapy and show improvement in the patient's condition.

How plasma therapy works:

The plasma therapy concept is simple and the aim is to use the antibodies of the recovered patient to treat critical patients affected by the virus. The blood of recovered patient contains antibodies which have the ability to fight against coronavirus. This plasma therapy is also used to immunize the body against the virus.
Once a patient recovered, they donate their blood so that their antibodies can use for the treatment of other unrecovered patients. The donated blood is properly checked for the presence of another disease like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, and others. If it were safe then the blood is taken through the proper process to extract plasma and then ingested into the body of the infected patients.

The antibodies of the recovered patient once ingested in under treatment the patient will target and fight against the coronavirus.
However, according to some researcher’s plasma therapy are a preventive measure and not a treatment for Covid-19.

Conclusion:
The collective result from people receiving from plasma therapy can deliver information about the goodness of therapy and whether it can become approved therapy for COVID-19, many people have benefited from plasma therapy; researchers are trying to assess the result from recovered patients.

Through the study of plasma therapy for COVID-19 doctors are closer to find a treatment, they are learning about plasma therapy and now will help healthcare workers and doctors to prepare better optimal patient care.
