Dampokht Full Lamb Recipe

Dampokht is a cooking technique in which meat and vegetables are cooked with slow flame in a pot, generally covered with dough. It is a famous recipe in North India and Pakistan.

Ingredients:

½ kg of Fat-Tailed sheep fat
2 kg of Mutton
2-3 Potatoes
2 Tomatoes
1 Onion
5-6 Green Chillies
2 Lemons
50 gram Garlic
50 gram Ginger
Black pepper to taste
Salt to taste
½ cup of water

Directions:

Take a pot that has a proper cover. Add fat at the bottom. Add mutton over the fat. Add whole potatoes, tomatoes, whole onion, green chillies, add properly cut garlic and ginger and salt and black pepper. Pour lemon juice over it.

Add ½ cup of water, close the pot and cover the edges of the pot with dough.
Cook it for 2.5 hour on low flame. Don’t let the steam out. Open it carefully after 2.5 hours.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 2.5 hours

Serves:  4-5 Person
